Beat Script - Week 2

Introduction

A Beat Script is the starting point for creating an animation. The idea is to focus only on the action and overall narrative. The beat script does not include any dialogue, thoughts of the characters or camera angles.

Draft Beat Script

Title: Laundromat
Protagonist: man who needs to wash his clothes
Agonist: Washing machine that does not want to wash clothes


Beat Script

1. Enters the laundromat
2. Pushes the button to open the door on front loader but nothing happens
3. Pushes again and again with more intensity
4. Door opens hits him in the head and he is flung across the room
5. Now with an open door he puts his clothes and closes the door
6. He turns to get the washing powered and the clothes come flying out
7. He puts the clothes back in and closes the door and the powder comes flying out onto his face
8. His hair is all white from the laundry powder
9. The laundromat supervisor comes over to him and points to the powder on the floor and the mop against the wall instructing him to clear up the mess
10. He mops the floor and put more laundry powder in pushes the button to start the machine and it does go
11. He bangs on the machine and the laundromat supervisor comes over and waves his finger at him to stop.
12. He pushes the button all the clothes comes flying out.
13. He pushes the clothes in this time right to back of the machine and as he do this the washing machine sucks him in, the door closes and you see his face going around in the window covered in soapy water
14. He bangs on the door and comes flying out with water and clothes
15. The laundromat supervisor comes over to him points at the water on the floor and then at the mop
16. He picks up the clothes pushes them back in the machine closes the door and mops the floor while the washing machine washes the clothes.
17. There is a big smile on his face as it looks like he has finely got the machine to work
18. Hot steam is seen coming out about the washing machine door
19. His face turns to a frown
20. The door bursts open and all the clothes and water come flying out hitting him in the head
21. He holds up one of his shirts and it has shrunk to the size of a doll's shirt
22. His face show anger he jumps up and down
23. Goes outside and fetches a large rock puts it into the machine closes the door and pushes the start button
24. The Washing machine comes out from the wall bounces about the room with bits flying off until it final ends up as a pile of metal on the floor.
25. He leaves the laundromat and arrives home
26. His wife points to her new washing machine the same model as was in the laundromat
